How it works

Your hound is collected from your home and rides in the Hound Van which is kitted with soft mats for the hounds to have a comfy space to travel in.
The hounds are walked as a pack for an hour or more.
The hounds then get put back in the van and get dropped off at home to snooze the rest of the day away. Hounds can be away from home for up to 4 hours.

Why we do it

Pack-walking for Greyhounds is a great way to break up the day for your hound while you're at work or busy with other engagements. It provides exercise and socialisation with other hounds. New experiences in different settings engage their minds and help them to be better prepared for the world around them. It is particularly helpful for hounds that have recently retired from racing; they can experience new things and build up their confidence with a pack of confident friends around them and an understanding leader to show them the way.

The greyhound is a very unique breed with it's own niche requirements. The Hound Way has been established to provide an elite service for hound owners to know that their hounds are being cared for to a high standard.  
Reading body language and understanding the signs that they are too hot, too cold, stressed out, or nervous and acting on these signs is a key strength The Hound Way brings to ensure the hounds have an excellent time when they're part of the pack. Consideration is given to the weather conditions; if it is hot, we will walk in a nicely shaded forest and around streams to cool off in regularly. In colder conditions we will walk around more sheltered areas and make sure the hounds are all rugged up in their jackets to enjoy their adventure in comfort. 
The Hound Way is also mindful of the instincts that come with being a prey-driven carnivore that has been bred to chase game for thousands of years. Special care is taken to ensure the hounds with particularly high prey drives are allowed to enjoy the walk without getting themselves in trouble.

The Hound Way considers the needs of the travelling hound.  The van is equipped with soft matting in the back where they can lay down and relax for the time they're in transit. This is far preferable to standing or awkwardly laying on the cold hard metal floor of a regular van.

The pack walks are also limited to smaller numbers. This means they each get more personal space in the van compared to other pack walking services. It also means they spend less time in the van while we do the pick and and drop off run, and they get to spend more time out on the walk.
